15th Century Chair
This free woodworking projects plans information courtesy of the CurrentMiddleAges web site.

16th Century Four Post Chair
Through much of the Middle Ages, chairs with arms and backs were regarded as prestigious items, suitable for lords, the clergy, and learned men. They came in a variety of designs, with seats of solid panels, woven rush, or leather

A classic Rocking Chair
A timeless rocking chair that will give you years of pleasure.

A puzzle chair
This chair was my first design project after reading Victor Papanek's Design for the Real World.

Adirondack Chair
This chair is based on the Adirondack style, and is indeed a very comfortable chair. Instructions , plans, etc. In metric (millimetres) dimensions.

Adirondack Chair Project
A chair so comfortable it doesn't need cushions. Drawings, photos, plans, instructions.

Adirondack Porch Swing
There are no plans with this one, just a lot of pictures showing the progressive steps of construction. This plan includes drawings, photos, and tasks organized in days.

Adirondack Style Two Seater Rocker
Due to popular demand, we have expanded upon the flippant comment at the end of the Adirondack chair feature and now offer the below description of how to make the two-seater rocking chair version. You will notice that the general methodology behind its construction is very similar to that of the standard Adirondack chair.

Adirondark Chair, Footstool and Table
Homemade patio furniture is an excellent weekend project to complement a deck or patio. With a good set of instructions, a few basic power tools, and a little know-how, the results can be outstanding. Drawings, photos, plans, instructions.

Arm - Classic Comfort Chair
Our Arts & Crafts-style armchair is based on a Gustav Stickley design from the early 1900s. With its large cushioned seat, it?s sure to quickly become one of your favorite spots for reading, conversation or watching TV.

Armchair - Classic Arts and Crafts
Power carving a hardwood bowl will get you in shape for Spring. There's nothing like hefting a power tool to tighten important muscle groups.

Bannister Back Colonial Wing Chair
A colonial chair in maple makes a satisfying project, being easy to build and offering no great problem in upholstering. A chair of this type combines well with conventional two piece overstuffed living room suites and also makes an attractive bedroom chair.

Barstool - Curved Back Chairs
The final installment of our outdoor kitchen project is this set of four tall, curved-back chairs. They share several details from the other kitchen pieces, including solid cedar construction and a two-tone finish. However, because they are chairs, they offer the unique challenge of building a piece of furniture that is equal parts attractive, comfortable, and durable.

Barstool chair for your breakfast bar
Today's kitchen is more than just a room for cooking. These days it's more of a geographical region, less defined by walls than by what it contains--its appliances, cabinets and, of course, the kitchen counter. In a way, the counter really reflects the nature of kitchen activity. From chopping to mixing to carving the roast, it's not the kind of work you do sitting down--at least, not in an ordinary chair. What you need is a chair that matches the stature of your counter--you need a kitchen stool.

Beach Chair
The project in question was a pair of compact wooden beach chairs. I?ve been toying around with the idea of making wooden beach chairs for some time now. About three years ago I first bumped into a pair of fellow campers who had some similar chairs. I was intrigued at how these chairs would come apart and nest into themselves for transport. I tried them out and they were just fine for sitting at the beach

Beach Chair
Made of lightweight cedar, these beach chairs fold for easy transport

Bog - Mark Iii Chair
This is the final, and most advanced design of the Bog Chair. This chair calls for a router, table saw, rabbet plane, or other method of cutting a rabbet. (A rabbet is a cut-away portion along the edge of a board.)

Breakdown Chair
Here?s a high-backed chair that breaks down flat and has no pegs or wedges to keep up with. You can get two chairs out of a 4? x 8? sheet of plywood.

Build a Chair -16th Century German Folding
A 16th Century German Folding Chairby Ld. Chas. Oakley Well, the array of seating possibilities continues. This project is very similar in many ways to the 16th Century Fauldstool that I have presented before but, in actuality, much simpler to build.
To the right is an image of the existing original... below it is a photo showing the prototype I built and a second one that is partially constructed.

Build a Child's Rocker
Kids are always in motion. It?s not easy to get them even to sit down in a chair. But this rocker lets them work off energy while staying in one place. And rocking can be just as soothing for children as it tends to be for adults. Kids love it. Plans for a sturdy plywood chair that can be disassembled and stored flat.
